Statement of Intent: Bruce and Brown is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children in accordance with the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 and the Children in Performances and Activities Regulations 2014.
Scope of Policy: This policy applies to all children represented by Bruce and Brown and to all staff, clients, photographers and third parties engaged in work involving children through the agency.
1) Recruitment and Staff Conduct
All Bruce and Brown staff members are subject to a DBS check upon employment. Staff are required to follow professional conduct standards and safeguarding procedures at all times.
2) Parents and Chaperones
A parent or licensed chaperone must be present and remain with the child at all times during castings and shoots. Children are never left alone with agency staff, clients, photographers or other production members.
3) Office test shoots
Bruce and Brown hold test shoots in their office, a parent or legal guardian must be present throughout.
4) Clients and shoots
Bruce and Brown works with trusted clients, and expects all clients and productions to comply with safeguarding requirements, professional standards and Child Performance Licence conditions. Any concerns regarding conduct or safeguarding practices will be reviewed and acted upon.
5) Child Performance Licenses
Where a Child Performance Licence is required, the child’s local authority is responsible for assessing risk assessments, safeguarding arrangements, and supervision plans for each child. A licence will only be granted where the local authority is satisfied that all safeguarding and welfare requirements are met. 6) Safeguarding Concerns, Incidents and Reporting
Any safeguarding concern or incident will be reported immediately to the Safeguarding Lead (Camilla Daniell – camilla@bruceandbrown.com). All incidents are recorded, logged and reviewed. Appropriate action will be taken which may include notifying parents/guardians, clients, or referring matters to the local authority where necessary. Confidentiality is maintained at all times and information is shared on a need to know basis. Policy Review: This policy is reviewed regularly to ensure continued compliance with legislation, local authority guidance and best industry practice.
